This saves on shipping as the parcel is smaller so you can save on the price and you get to recycle a plastic bottle that was on it's way to being shredded.

You just fill the bottle with sugar water or seeds - that you can buy online, a supermarket or a pet store - depending on the type attach it to the kit parts and you can start feeding the birds.
