You just need a 1 or 1.5 litre softdrink plastic bottle to complete this upcycle feeder kit.
The feeder base, hanger with cord, bee screen and orange float (to see water level from a distance) are included in the kit.
This feeder has room for tui and bellbird to feed while also being used by small birds like waxeyes. This model has an open bowl.
The design also has a removable insect screen to stop bees, wasps and other insects from drowning in the sugar water if you have this problem.
You fill the bottle with sweet water and the float - which is optional - and then screw it into the feeder and hang in a tree, bush, nail or hook in your garden, aviary or bird cage.
Made in NZ.
Sweet Water Recipe: An average mix for sugar water is a half a cup (125g) of sugar and 4 cups (1 litre) of water. You can add more or less and test with your birds.
Cleaning: The easiest way to clean the feeder and hanger is a dilute bleach solution, rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry. Do not wash in very hot water (warm water is fine) as it might soften and go out of shape.
